Method 1
Radiant Warm Weather

Method 2
Radiant Cold Weather

PRODUCT SOLUTION: TVM NT Radiant Barrier rFoil

  • Methods 1 & 2 - Use NT Radiant Barrier rFoil (1800-48-125).

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

  • NT Radiant Barrier Foil - a single layer of woven polyethylene material bonded to and sandwiched between Radiant Barrier Aluminum FOIL Sheets and polyethylene sheet creating a no tear barrier.

PRODUCT EFFECTIVENESS:

  • Radiant barriers such as NT Radiant Barrier are now standard components for Title 24 energy code compliance in many zones of California. This product is very effective in reflecting solar (radiant) heat gain. (Title 24 consultants: Radiant barrier evergy credit is an adjustment of ceiling U-Value, which is automatically applied by approved computer programs. Indicate Radiant Barrier on CF-1R under "special features.")

INSTALLATION METHODS:

  • Method 1
    • 1) Unroll, measure and cut the length of rFoil needed. Roll up each cut.
    • 2) Unroll cuts horizontally and staple to rafters.

  • Method 2
    • 1) Unroll, measure and cut the length of rFoil needed. Roll up each cut.
    • 2) Unroll each cut on top of mass insulation in attic. Do not seal the seam. (*Warning: Do not install over mass insulation if vapor barrier does not exist under the mass insulation.

SAFETY NOTE:

  • Do not lay Radiant Barrier rFoil on exposed electric wiring or boxes.
  • Make sure joists and trusses are solid before placing weight on them.
  • Dust masks, protective headgear and gloves should always be used while working in an attic.
  • Make sure all bath and kitchen exhaust fans vent to the exterior so that moisture does not escape into the attic.
